Zeiss Individual wins OLA 2009 Award of Excellence

Zeiss Individual, the precisely personalised progressive lens from Carl Zeiss Vision, has won the 2009 Optical Laboratories Association Award of Excellence for lens design. The announcement was made at the OLA’s Annual Meeting and Convention, held in Washington, D.C. on December 4 and 5, 2009.
The OLA Award of Excellence is the premier product recognition from the optical laboratory industry in the U.S. The 2009 award is the 18 “Zeiss Individual has created a revolution in the way lenses are designed and made, and in the quality of the patient’s vision. We thank the OLA for honouring us with this recognition,” said Fred Howard, Carl Zeiss Vision’s President – Americas Pacific.

Zeiss Individual is the only precisely personalized lens made using proprietary PreciseForm™ technology by ZEISS. Each lens is custom-designed in real time, and then free-form manufactured using Carl Zeiss Vision’s exclusive, patented back-surface application process. It is fully customised for the patient’s unique combination of sphere, cylinder, axis and add, frame choice, and even the way the eyewear fits the patient’s face. This customisation results in up to 50% wider fields of clear vision compared to conventional progressive lenses, and markedly improved visual acuity throughout the lens.
