Digital Retinal Imaging
Digital retinal photography has been an inclusive, standard part of our consultations since 2002 at this practice. This is state-of-the-art glaucoma and eye-disease screening.
The most common causes of blindness are glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy. For the best ophthalmologic care, it is important to trace these disorders in their early stages. Therefore, quick access to screening and diagnosis during normal examination of patients is a great contribution to the process of reducing blindness.
In this age of rapid advances in digital and electronic technology, our equipment is an industry leader. The integrated system gives clear images and makes diagnosis faster and more reliable.
The 2 main benefits are:
- Retinal imaging gives a much larger, more detailed picture compared with previous techniques, which means our optometrists can detect any changes sooner.
- It allows us to keep a copy of the image on file, providing a more accurate
reference point than notes or diagrams.
